Mayor Bill de Blasio still faces heat – and not just from Andy Cohen – because he danced with his wife in Times Square early on New Year’s Day after the public was banned there due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The mayor became an easy target after his tenure tweeted a clip van de Blasio and first lady Chirlane McCray moving on stage to Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” after the ball fell in the Crossroads of the World to ring in 2021.
Meghan McCain, co-presenter of ‘The View’, closely slammed the show, calling it ‘deaf deaf’.
‘You’ve always been basically the worst politician in modern history – but to shut down NYC [and] holding your own private party in Times Square is really a chef * the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen a mayor do. Everyone hates you DeBlasio, ”McCain tweeted.
Another woman blasio blames on Twitter for “Mock the citizens of New York who are forbidden to be in Times Square while dancing in the space created by restricting the reef.”
And a third Twitter user said, “Complete lack of self-awareness. Embarrassment. ”
Early on New Year’s Day, it appears that Cohen started the criticism against de Blasio, and for the first time dropped a shot of tequila live on CNN.
“That was how I felt when I saw Mayor de Blasio dancing just now,” he said. “I just don’t need to see it at the beginning of 2021,” Cohen said.
A spokesman for de Blasio dropped the insult to Fox News.
“Not the first time I’ve heard a drunk person complain about someone’s dance moves,” a representative at the outlet said.
Times Square looked like a ghost town on Thursday night, the first time in 114 years that the New Year’s Eve spectacle was held without the general public being there.
De Blasio and McCray were at the quiet celebration to start the traditional ball fall at midnight.
Exporters and several hundred respondents were also allowed in the area.
