Tommy Hilfiger pours $ 45 million Greenwich mansion

Almost everyone seems to be moving to Florida – including Tommy Hilfiger, who dumped his $ 45 million Greenwich mansion for warmer pastures.

The American clothing retailer (69) and his wife, former model Dee Ocleppo (54), eventually closed the sale of their 13,344-square-foot mansion – which teased The Post exclusively. The 22-acre estate in John St. 30, which they have owned since 2010, has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and three powder rooms.

‘The house does not feel very big, because it is cozy and warm. They used almost every room. It welcomes you, ”Agent Janet Milligan and Sotheby’s International Realty Greenwich Brokerage told The Post.

The house has hand-painted fabric walls, carved milling, broad and limestone floors, textile wall coverings, a wine cellar and a tasting room. According to Realtor.com, an 18th-century French fireplace is among six total fireplaces, and the master bedroom has two bathrooms, two dressing rooms and an office.

The entrance has a carved wooden staircase. The formal dining room has wood paneling, and the large kitchen has wooden beams and a breakfast room. The house also has a home theater.

‘[Ocleppo] has Turkish heritage, so the Turkish-inspired decor is really special. She really made the theater room a beautiful, cozy room where you just want to watch movies all day. It has a candy machine, popcorn, benches and different levels of chairs, ”Milligan said.

“The big, gracious, stately black gates are going to open, and there’s the house and it’s like – wow … there’s really a wow factor,” said listing agent Janet Milligan.

The house has fountains, a koi pond, a swimming pool, a tennis court for all weather conditions, a rose garden, a boxwood knot garden, a backyard garden and a lawn overlooking the Long Island Sound. According to Realtor.com, the house has a garage with four cars plus a guest house with two bedrooms and its own garage with two cars. They even had a greenhouse, where there were once orchids, and a chicken coop with three roosters and at least a dozen hens, Milligan told The Post.

‘When you approach, you go up a bend and you do not see the house. If you drive the driveway, it’s sitting there like a pearl, ‘Milligan said. “It’s the highest point in Greenwich, and on a clear day you can see New York City.”

This is the eighth home the couple has renovated and sold in the past 35 years. They bought the house in 2010 for $ 31.37 million and reportedly spent millions renovating the house, including replacing the terra cotta tiles of the roof with custom-made exact replicas of the original. They hired Andre Tchelistcheff Architects, as well as interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and also Cindy Rinfret of Rinfret, Ltd., for the renovation work, according to Town & Country.

‘There was originally an indoor pool, and they turned it into the most beautiful family room. You would never know that it was not there before, it was so well done, “said Milligan. The new family room has French doors, a wet bar, a lounge area, a television and a billiards table.

Their Greenwich home was built in 1939 and designed by Greville Rickard for solid investor Charles Vincent Paterno. The house was later owned by the art collector dr. Joseph Hirshhorn, whose collection is now in the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC, according to Realtor.com.

Sally Slater of Douglas Elliman represented the anonymous buyers who bought the estate through an LLC.

“You think you’re miles away from everything, but it’s actually so conveniently located and in such a beautiful neighborhood,” Milligan said.

“They are not flashy people. “They just want to start their lives in Greenwich, as opposed to where they were,” Slater told Real Deal.

Hilfiger and Ocleppo will move to Palm Beach, Florida for favorable tax policies and other unnamed reasons; the couple is selling their home in Miami and wants to buy a new home in Florida, they told the Wall Street Journal in September. Hilfiger also sold its Plaza Hotel penthouse in 2019 for $ 33.25 million and a mansion in Palm Beach for $ 35 million in 2017.
