Tom Izzo, Michigan, has a heated argument with the player; moment raises eyebrows, shrugs

Michigan coach Tom Izzo’s heated argument with a player during Thursday night’s overtime loss to UCLA in the men’s NCAA basketball tournament has sparked a debate on social media.

At half-time, Izzo was seen shouting at Spartans forward Gabe Brown. Izzo briefly grabs Brown’s arm as they head back to the locker room and then grabs his sweater to try and stop him from running into the tunnel. When Brown gets away, Izzo chases after him.

The debate has sparked some questions on social media, but for Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green – who is also a former member of the Michigan state – it was no big deal.

Izzo was questioned about the moment after the team lost 86-80.

‘He missed a play and I told him. “He ran away and I told him to come back,” he told the Detroit Free Press. “We went through it a few years ago. Such a game, that’s the question you’re going to ask me? I’ll answer it, because the media has the right to ask any question.

‘But we’ll bring him in here and you can ask him. It was normally nothing. It’s just that everything is something today. It was a missed switch we were talking about. ‘

Brown was not made available to reporters after the game.

Izzo also came under fire during the men’s tournament in 2019 for a fierce moment with Aaron Henry.

Video from the game shows Izzo storming onto the track during a timeout and yelling at Henry. Other coaches and guard Cassius Winston quickly stepped in to separate the two before the chewing in the team continued.
