Tom Holland does not sound excited about his performance in the Uncharted film • Eurogamer.net

Tom Holland spoke about his role as Nathan Drake in the upcoming film Uncharted – and it does not sound like he is particularly excited about his performance.

In a new interview with GQ, the Spider-Man star from South London said that playing Drake in the film was sometimes’ less about making a mark and going through this scene and more about making a point land, so to stand and see my bulging biceps. ..

“It was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never do again.”

It is worth looking at Holland’s quote here in more detail. GQ sets it up by describing the Uncharted movie as something in common with a Michael Bay action movie. Holland had to play a big role in the role, and he had to stand ‘cool looking’.

“It was an experiment in vanity that left a strange taste in his mouth,” says GQ.

And then to Holland’s full quote about the film:

“Once you start worrying about ‘Do I look good in this survey?’ acting becomes something other than playing a character. I think there are elements of my performance in Uncharted where I’m under the spell of ‘I want to look good now. I want it to be my cool moment’. Play this very tough , very stoic man – be basically Mark Wahlberg My character is supposed to be a fucking action hero right now!

“Look, I did not see it, so I do not know if I succeeded. But it was an important lesson learned, because sometimes it was less about making a point and going through this scene. land a mark, stand like that and see my bulging biceps … It was a mistake and it’s something I’ll probably never do again. ‘

So Holland is not saying that the Uncharted film is bad, or that it was a mistake to appear in the film. What he is saying, however, is that the way he played the role was partly a mistake.

Eurogamer news roll: Sony State of Play special.

Holland, who is notorious for not being interviewed in the interview, will likely tear his PR handlers apart with this GQ interview. And I doubt his paymasters in Hollywood will be excited, too. After all, it’s hard not to read his quote and worry about the film.

And as a fan of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted video games, it’s hard not to see a rift between the Nathan Drake I’ve played over the years and ‘this very tough, very stoic man – be basically Mark Wahlberg ‘Nathan Drake Holland described in the interview.

In January, Sony delayed the Uncharted movie until 2022. Previously, it would arrive in October this year before Sony optimistically brought the release to July.

New photos of the Uncharted movie set were recently shared by Sony, as the movie only wanted to appear for six months. This follows our first photo of Tom Holland last year in full costume.
