Called the ‘Holy Grail’ of the Brady rookie tickets, it shows the rookie quarterback in his Patriots uniform, flanked by a spot card with basic information about the Michigan product. Friday’s card is number 99 of the 100 ever printed.
“This card was purchased on eBay a decade ago and has since been hidden in a private collection,” the auction house wrote in a description of the Brady rookie card.
The record sale is a testament to the rising market in the sports card and memorabilia industry since last year. Since the reigning Super Bowl most valuable player is still competing at the highest level, he will pursue another legendary career in Tampa in the coming years, this may not be the last time a Brady rookie card breaks the record again.
