Tom Brady signs contract extension with Bucs: ‘In pursuit of 8’

Tom Brady agreed on Friday to an extended four-year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which will allow him to play through the 2022 season.

Brady’s new agreement has three void years, associated with a one-year extension, according to several reports.

Sources told ESPN that the deal would save the Bucs $ 19 million against the hood and that Brady was an effort to keep the Super Bowl team together as much as possible.

Brady initially signed a $ 50 million two-year contract with the Buccaneers in March 2020 after 20 seasons and six rings with the New England Patriots. According to the NFL network, Brady did not ask for a raise after winning the Super Bowl, and his latest contract was aimed at keeping the team together – a challenge for most teams below this year’s salary cap.

The legendary quarterback tweeted a photo of himself signing the contract extension.

“In the pursuit of 8 … LFG @ Buccaneers we keep the band together,” he tweeted.

Brady, who turns 44 in August, said he plans to play at least 45, but without any signs of slowing down and a new Super Bowl ring, his expansion into Tampa is no surprise.

The expansion will help the Bucs significantly, with a number of key players reaching the free agency market later this month. Big names include Rob Gronkowski, Leonard Fournette and Antonio Brown.
