Tom Brady gives an update on the surgically repaired knee

We still do not know exactly what kind of knee surgery Tom Brady underwent after the Super Bowl.

But the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fullback gave an update on his status on Sunday. He seems to be recovering well.

Brady made an appearance during a charity golf tournament hosted by Bucs head coach Bruce Arians. There are no reports of Brady golfing. But he turned up for a great opportunity on Sunday night while walking without any obvious problems.

He also spoke to Jenna Laine of ESPN about his recovery from the February procedure.

“I feel pretty good, and I push myself pretty hard,” Brady said. “I feel pretty good. I don’t know if I can go this week, but we’ll see how things play out.”

Asked if he plans to attend a mini-camp in June if there is one, Brady told Laine, “I hope so.”

Arians initially described the procedure as a “cleaning” before Brady went under the knife. The Boston Globes Ben Volin later reported that the procedure was “more than just a little tidying up”. Laine confirmed Sunday that the procedure was planned months before the Super Bowl.

Exactly what the procedure was remains a mystery.

“It’s good, it’s good. It’s good progress,” Brady told Laine. “It’s rehabilitation. None of it is fun, but look forward to returning to real training and things, which will hopefully be here soon. …

“I definitely feel a lot better than I did six or seven weeks ago.”

Brady captured an MLS match earlier Sunday

Arians’ charity gala was Brady’s second public outing on Sunday. He took on an MLS game between Inter Miami and the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday afternoon and it looks like he’s just feeling good.

Buccaneers players are among those from the majority of NFL teams who have announced that they will not participate in volunteer off-season programs amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. These workouts are planned for April and May. Brady is apparently not going to participate, regardless.

But he sounds optimistic about testing his surgically repaired knee during mandatory workouts in June. As usual with Brady, everything looks good.
