Today I learned how to mute PS5 audio with the DualSense controller

Do you know that you can mute the sound of the entire system by simply holding the mute button on the DualSense for about one second? I had a PS5 for months, but I only now realized that this hidden feature existed after watching a YouTube video that the algorithm served me. You will know that it works if the orange mute lamp gently sprinkles, then you will not hear any system noises.

Apparently this trick works to turn off all audio, regardless of the audio source, whether it’s your speakers, headphones in the controller’s 3.5mm jack, a wireless game headphone jack, or one connected via one of the console’s USB ports plugged in, turned on. Although the DualSense has limited computer support, it appears that this feature is exclusive to PS5.

This video is not the exclusive source for this information, and does not appear to be the first to contact us about the feature. A Google search for this feature shows that a steady stream of gamers is accidentally running on it, perhaps because more PS5 consoles are available for purchase.

Since the console is still difficult to buy, let alone still in stock, I thought it would be useful for anyone reading this and trying their luck to get one. I’m not sure I would ever figure it out myself if I did not serve the one video.

This is a handy feature, although it will take some practice for me to take advantage of this feature compared to my usual damping method, just to pull off my headphones.
