House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a 60-minute interview aired Sunday night that one of the motivating factors for some in the new attempt to accuse President Trump and remove him from office is to reduce the chances he has of resigning. to be elected, to eliminate.

She said she preferred the 25th amendment “because it gets rid of him.”
“But there is strong support in Congress to accuse the president a second time,” she said. “This president is guilty of inciting rebellion. He must pay a price for it.”
Pelosi, in a letter to colleagues, referred to the president as a “threatening threat” to both the US Constitution and democracy. In the letter Sunday, Pelosi said the House will act with great solemnity with less than two weeks left before Trump leaves office.
“To protect our Constitution and our Democracy, we will act urgently, because this president is a looming threat to both,” she said. “The horrors of the continuing onslaught on our democracy committed by this president are intensifying and so is the immediate need for action.”

The house action could begin as early as Monday as the pressure on Trump to act increases. A Republican senator, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, has joined Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to “resign Trump and leave as soon as possible.”
On Monday, Pelosi’s leadership team will vote on a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence and Cabinet officials to call for the 25th amendment, with a full vote in the House on Tuesday.
After that, Pence and the cabinet would have 24 hours to act before the house would move to indictment.
Pelosi told ’60 minutes’ that nothing is off the table.
She also remembered the chaos in the Capitol when protesters stormed the building. She said she was on the podium on the house floor, and Capitol police pulled her aside. She said she told them she wanted to be there, and they said, “Well, no, you have to leave.”
She said there were some back and forth, but eventually she agreed.
Pelosi calls the offense at the Capitol a ‘terrible offense’ and blames the president for his role.
The political consequences of the riot apparently raised serious doubts about Trump’s future as leader of the Republican Party.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, the South Carolina Republican, addressed the Senate after the riot last week, saying Trump was a “consequential” president over four years in office “but today … count me out. Enough is enough.”

But the president garnered seven million votes in November as the only sitting president in history. In early December, Trump told supporters during a White House holiday home that it was “a wonderful four years.”
