Titans to release CB Adoree ‘Jackson, T Dennis Kelly

After this year, players linked to fifth-year options will be protected from free releases. But the Titans will seize that opportunity in its final year. They will choose the former first round Adoree ‘Jackson.

The Titans cut both Jackson and start the right attack Dennis Kelly, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets. Jackson’s option season would cost the Titans $ 10.2MM. They will turn the entire amount into hood space, a luxury that will not be available to teams next year.

This is definitely not a surprise. Jackson played just three games last season; a knee injury cost the first round of 2017 most of his season. The Titans postponed Jackson to Week 1 on IR, and although they activated him from the injured list in early November, Jackson still missed time. He will join the free agency at a bad time, take down his worst season and do so after the salary cap dropped by $ 16 million. However, some interest figures come across Jackson’s path. He classified an overall corner of Pro Football Focus as ‘No.8’ in 2019 and ended up in the top 40 corners of the advanced benchmarks in ’17 and ’18.

Tennessee will introduce a new group of corners next year. The Titans have Jackson and Malcolm Butler. They will also get a new right suit.

After the Titans passed Jack Conklin‘s fifth year option set up Isaiah Wilson in the first round of 2020. After a disastrous rookie year, Wilson is now with the Dolphins. The Titans used Kelly during the right onslaught last season and elevated him from the role he had earlier. Kelly’s most recent expansion took place in the 2022 season.

Overall, the Titans will create more than $ 17MM in hood space by making these moves. That would push the team’s total to nearly $ 30 million per OverTheCap. They will also have to replace two key cages.
