Two days after suffering serious leg injuries during an ankle accident, Tiger Woods was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles. He received care at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, which released a statement outlining Woods’ transfer.
“Mr. Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for continued orthopedic care and recovery,” reads the statement from Dr. Anish Mahajan “To respect the confidentiality of patients, the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center will not provide any further information on patient care.”
Cedars-Sinai is about 20 miles north of Harbor-UCLA.
Woods sustained multiple “weakened open fractures” to his right leg. His leg was stabilized by placing a bar in his tibia, while screws and pins were placed in his foot and ankle.
In an update given Wednesday, Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the incident “was merely an accident” and that no criminal charges would be filed against Woods. There was no indication that Woods was harmed during the accident.
The crash occurred at about 7:12 a.m. on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes near Los Angeles. Woods traveled quickly and lost control of the vehicle before crossing the middle divider. His car rolled several times and hit a curb and trees. Woods was wearing a seat belt and a cutter bar and ax were needed to remove the car’s windshield.
