Thunder and Pistons kick off NBA trading season

The trading season is now underway with the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder delivering the first deal, two weeks after the March 25 deadline. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the deal, which will send Thunder wing Hamidou Diallo to the Pistons for forward Svi Mykhailiuk and a second round in 2027.

Diallo has been crowned the 2019 NBA All Star Slam Dunk match champion and is currently in his third season after being selected with the 45th pick in 2018.

He averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists this season, and is now taking his talent to Motown where he will be reunited with former Thunder teammate Jerami Grant.

The Thunder picks up another draft asset and Ukrainian-born Mykhailiuk, for whom he will fit, is the third team in as many years, initially lined up by the Los Angeles Lakers at 47 – two slots after Diallo – in 2018.

Mykhailiuk averaged 6.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists this season.
