Three people died on Saturday after a small plane crashed into a house in Lyon, Michigan.
According to a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Office of Oakland County, the three dead were presumably the occupants of the plane – two passengers and a pilot.

The Lyon Township home was completely engulfed in flames after the crash, but the five occupants of the home were safely evacuated. However, according to the CNN subsidiary WDIV, the family cat did not survive the incident.
In a statement to The Hill, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as a single-engine Piper PA-24, saying the crash occurred around 4 p.m. local time.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will both investigate the incident, and will release further details as it comes in.
A neighbor told the local outlet that there was concern that something like this could happen due to the area’s proximity to Oakland / Southwest Airport.
