The Super Bowl is finally upon us. OK, everyone, it’s show time. Well, not quite yet, but we’re just hours away from kicking off! Chiefs vs Buccaneers. Tom Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes. The timeless champion versus the reigning champion. Can it go better than that? You should already know that Kansas City is a small favorite in this game, although the game itself will be played in the Buccaneers’ own stadium – a first in Super Bowl history. But in the spirit of welcoming Super Sunday, we decided to give a stab at some daring predictions for the big game.
As Super Bowl LV approaches, here are three:
1. Brady and Mahomes combine for 800 meters, six TDs pass

Brady already holds the record for most passing yards in a Super Bowl, hitting 505 in his 2017 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. It will take an awful lot for him to repeat these numbers, and even a big game from Patrick Mahomes could not overshadow the joint 2017 point, as Nick Foles also passed for 373 in the Eagles victory. But still, we expect the showdown with Bucs-Chiefs to be just as much of a shootout as when the two sides met earlier this season when they combined 807 yards in Kansas City’s 27-24 victory. It’s still a big total, mind you, because it would require Brady and Mahomes to take an average of 400 yards through the air, as well as three times at a time. Fasten your seat belts!
2. Bucs, Chiefs go to OT for the second time in Super Bowl history
Believe it or not, only one Super Bowl has ever gone overtime. Can you guess which quarter played in that one? Yep, that’s right. Tom Brady. In fact, the last OT Super Bowl, which ended the 2016 season, is undoubtedly the best of Brady ever: his return from 28-3 to beat the Atlanta Falcons. We could easily see this one end up in regulation (history says it’s pretty likely!), But all indications are that it’s close, so whose two sides can we not give a few minutes of extra action? The only time Andy Reid and Bruce Arians went head-to-head as head coaches, for what it’s worth, their respective teams played three-point games.
3. Brady steals a late lead, but Mahomes gives Chiefs a second consecutive title

The closer this game gets to the kick-off, the harder it becomes to pick against Brady. Just think about it: if he ever proved the naysayers (all three) wrong in a Super Bowl, would it not be at age 43, while it could vote the best QB in the league in Mahomes? He will prove once and for all that he reigns supreme – even against the next generation’s best thing to Brady. It helps that the Chiefs are missing two important entrees. And yet … Kansas City is just too good. Although Brady will no doubt hold it and is likely to lead to a seventh ring, Mahomes and Co will not turn up nearly as easily as Washington, New Orleans and Green Bay throughout the national season. Crown them again!
