This ‘Supersonic’ plane can fly NYC to London in 90 minutes

The makers of a new supersonic jet that could one day fly between New York and London within 90 minutes unveiled the luxurious interior of the plane.

Spike Aerospace’s S-512 Supersonic Jet has no windows to increase fuel efficiency and keep the cabin quiet, according to the Telegraph.

Instead, the interior walls will be lined with an extra long computer screen that can be split into individual TVs.

The S-512 is Spike’s contribution to the burgeoning supersonic radiator market, re-emerging after nearly two decades since the fall of the Concorde radiator. The Concorde can undertake the voyage across the Atlantic within three hours.

Unlike the Concorde, with up to 100 people, the S-512 has a maximum capacity of 18 kites, the Telegraph said. The new jet is also slower, but can move over land because it delivers a lighter sonic surge than its predecessor, the designer said.

“The Concorde has made ridiculous noise,” Spike chief executive Vik Kachoria told the Telegraph.

The private plane has no windows, and it also provides excellent noise suppression in the plane.

‘Most conversations between two people are between 65 and 75 decibels and the noise level in most aircraft cabins is around 85 decibels. Our windowless planes will be about 60 decibels, so lower than the noise of a conversation. ‘

The aircraft’s seats will also be convertible – so that the cabin can be converted into a boardroom, bedroom or dining room.

The Concorde traveled on Mach 2.04, or twice the speed of sound. The new Spike aircraft launches on March 1.6, twice as fast as any aircraft on the market, the Telegraph said.

The company hopes to reach Mach 3.2 in the next decade, which will allow flights between London and New York in less than 90 minutes.
