This is a well thought out version of a Honda S2000 revival

Ah, the Honda S2000. The back of the 1960s Honda roadster line and the biggest competitor to the Mazda MX-5. Fans of the open two-seater open-head have had a sequel since production in 2009, but Honda was quite motherly about the requests – until a recent revival rumor surfaced last year.

With that said, Behance artist Somak Biswas imagines the return of the S2000 through a series of fictional versions of modern times.

First, Biswas linked the S2000 revival as a competitor to the BMW Z4 and Porsche 718 Boxster. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot mill is located in the hood, presumably from the Honda Civic Type R, in line with recent rumors.

Design wise, Biswas’s S2000 looks back to the previous model with its long hood, clean lines and a road bypass. However, it follows the new design language seen on the 2022 Honda Civic Prototype, which was unveiled in November, mainly seen on the headlights, the lower grille and the front intake. Biswas even introduced him to a more aggressive S2000 Type R that featured a rear wing and skirts with red accents.

Inside comes the imaginary S2000 with three main elements. A Mood Bar, which flanks the dashboard and combines a soundbar, ambient lighting and air vents, is aimed at stimulating the sense of feeling, hearing and sight. The infotainment system, on the other hand, is intended to have an adjustable position for better visibility and reach. Finally, Biswas also imagines that the center console has a staircase shape – a design inspired by Japanese pagodas.

Biswas’s vision on the revival of the S2000 seems, to say the least, cool, with the well-thought-out elements added and giving the artist’s imagination validity. But do you think Honda should consider creating the revived S2000 after this design? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
