Third-party AirPods Max Solutions wants to handle smart criticism on the matter

The first third-party covers and pendants for AirPods Max that contain magnets, enabling users to avoid Apple’s Smart Case, are now on sale.

Apple’s Smart Case contains magnets that put ‘AirPods Max’ in low power mode to conserve battery life. After 18 hours in the Smart Case, the AirPods Max goes into an ultra-low power mode that turns off Bluetooth and Find My.

IrAirPods Max‌ has no on / off button, but Apple instead relies on different power modes and the Smart Case to maintain battery life. Yet the Smart Case has come under fire for its design, which is criticized by some customers for being very little protection and impractical, and without using it, AirPods Max takes longer to enter its low power state.

Amid this criticism, third-party businesses have begun offering solutions to address the criticism of the Smart Case. WaterField Designs’ protective “Shield Case” for ‌AirPods Max‌, as opposed to Apple’s Smart Case which only partially covers each ‌AirPods Max‌ earphone, keeps the entire headset in an ultra-soft interior and offers three layers of protection. There is also an inside pocket to carry a loading brick, waterproof zippers and a loop to attach the case to a carabiner.

The WaterField Shield Case contains a “Magnetic Leather Butterfly” that puts ‌AirPods Max‌ in their low power mode without Apple’s Smart Case, but it is also possible to unfold these magnets to put ‌AirPods Max‌ together with their Smart Case in the Shield Case farm.

On Etsy, a 3D-printed “AirPods Max” “Air Hanger” also uses magnets to place the headphones in low power mode without the Smart Case. With the wall hanger, ‘AirPods Max’ can be hung on any strap length, with a curved lip to prevent the headphones from slipping off.
