We are not saying it is because we had nothing better to do, but apparently in 2020 we all tweeted 75% more about video games than we did in 2019. Strange!
With the sheer amount of tweets comes interesting insights into what we actually say with those misses: it seems Animal crossing: new horizons was the biggest topic, before mobile games Fate / Great Order and Disney: Twisted-Wonderland, both extremely popular in Japan.
Last December’s Game Awards were the most tweeted game event, in which New Horizons won the best family game, and we saw Sephiroth as the latest Smash Bros. character.
Whether we tweet about it, share screenshots or just wait patiently for news, the most followed game topics are included Fortnite, Minecraft, and again Animal Crossing. The topics ‘PlayStation’ and ‘Xbox’ also made it into the top ten, but ‘Nintendo’ and ‘Switch’ did not – possibly because we can not all bear the grief of letting new immediate rumors come down. Sigh.
Meanwhile, it looks like Between us brought great fame to his most famous players, as a musician and well-known deep speaker @Corpse_Husband crows the top ten “Most tweeted about game personalities” after his streams with the US representatives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
