The iPhone 12 is only a few months old, but rumors about the iPhone 13 are already there.

Apple’s next iPhone may have a sharper display that is handy at a glance, to match with some new camera features and a smoother refresh rate. The well-known technology leak Max Weinbach shared this information on Sunday via YouTube channel EverythingApplePro. Nothing is official, but according to Weinbach, the iPhone 13 will always have an OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The feature that is always on will be similar to the current Android phones. Weinbach calls it a ‘toned down lock screen’ with minimal adjustment. The clock and battery charge will always be visible and notifications will pop up temporarily when it arrives, he said.

OLED makes this possible, as the iPhone can send power to only the pixels needed to display the relevant information, instead of illuminating the entire screen to display anything needed with the current LCD technology of the iPhone. The 120Hz refresh rate can be limited to the iPhone 13 Pro models.

In addition to the new screen technology, Weinbach has also outlined some camera upgrades. Portrait mode is presumably available for videos. When taking still photos, portrait mode blurs the background of your image. The latest iPhones will apparently be able to maintain this focus on a moving topic in video form. The camera also has a mode dedicated to astrophotography so you can take fantastic photos of the stars.

Weinbach does not expect much change to the physical frame of the current iPhone 12 to the upcoming iPhone 13, except that the back of the phones may be more comfortable and easier to grab. He also said that the MagSafe magnets that attach the phone to chargers and other accessories will be stronger so that the accessories stay.

Apple did not confirm any of these details and did not immediately respond to CNET’s request for comment.

We expect Apple’s next iPhone to be released as usual this fall. Here is everything we know and expect from the iPhone 13.
