A Canadian woman has won a $ 60 million jackpot with figures from a dream her husband had 20 years ago.
Deng Pravatoudom, 57, has been playing the numbers for the past two decades – and it finally paid off last month, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) said in a news release on Monday.
“I started crying,” Pravatoudom said when he heard the good news.
“I have always prayed for a blessing that my family will take care of!”
The grandmother of two, who was fired last spring amid the coronavirus pandemic, said she was grateful for the cash infusion.
“My husband and I have been working as general laborers for over 40 years, trying to save what we could for our family …,” she said.
“This money will definitely help make our lives a lot easier.”
As an immigrant from Laos who came to Canada with her 14 siblings in 1980, Pravatoudom said winning the jackpot was not her wildest dream.
“My family was sponsored by a local church and because we had nothing, I am grateful for the great support they have offered us over the years,” Pravatoudom said.
The couple’s two children were relieved when they heard of the great victory.
“They said, ‘Mom and Dad, you worked so hard for 40 years and made a lot of sacrifices, so you deserve this happiness!’ ‘Remember Pravatoudom.
She and her husband plan to move out of their apartment and buy a home with the profits, as well as pay bills.
Pravatoudom also wants to travel: to Texas, Hawaii and into Europe.
“Except when I came from Laos to Canada, I never really traveled,” she said. “I’m excited to see the world.”
