The woman dies after the parachute in Lodi parachute center became entangled

A woman died Saturday after an accident at the Lodi Parachute Center, the sheriff in San Joaquin County confirmed Sunday.

Officials said the sheriff received a call shortly before 2:30 p.m. from a parachutist who got confused with her parachutes.

‘What was reported to us from someone who saw the witness [incident]”was that the gutter could not open completely when she came down and it was strongly tangled,” the San Joaquin County sheriff said.

The sheriff’s office said the woman did not survive. Officials added that the woman was “very experienced”.

The FAA is conducting an investigation and says their investigations are limited to inspections of the parachute.

“The Federal Aviation Administration’s investigations into skydiving events are limited to the inspection of the parachute. The FAA is not investigating to determine the cause of the incident,” the FAA said in a statement.

This accident comes one month after the parachute center was ordered to pay $ 40 million in connection with a deadly jump there five years ago. An 18-year-old man died in 2016 after his parachute did not open. It was later determined that his instructor was not properly certified.

Since 1999, at least 17 others have died in the jump of planes taking off from the center.

No other details were released.
