The Vivo X60 Pro Plus smartphone has a camera developed with Zeiss

Vivo has announced the X60 Pro Plus, its flagship smartphone of 2021 that boasts a four-camera range developed by Zeiss. Called the “Vivo Zeiss Joint Imaging System”, despite the small size of the hardware, the companies promise excellent quality.

Vivo announced a partnership with Zeiss in December 2020 and the X60 Pro Plus is the first phone to benefit from the partnership.

The X60 Pro Plus features four cameras in its slightly raised camera bulge: a super-large 23mm lens with a GN1 50-megapixel sensor, a super wide-angle 23mm micro-head lens in front of a 50-megapixel sensor, a 32 megapixel ‘Professional portrait’ 50mm lens and an 8-megapixel 125mm super telephoto lens.

The 23mm main camera also features a larger 1 / 1.3-inch sensor and optics that, according to Vivo and Zeiss, ‘have high-resolution properties and can improve distribution, gloss, purple edge and ghost work’. The sensor is not only larger, but also has a wide open aperture of f / 1.57, which the companies claim will combine excellent night shooting features in combination with the larger sensor.

In addition, it uses the X60 Pro + Zeiss T * drawing technology, which companies say significantly increases the lens’ transmittance to reduce glare and significantly improve overall image quality.

The Vivo X60 Pro + is the first ultra-wide-angle microscope second main camera in the industry. It uses a combination of the 48-megapixel IMX598 sensor and a second-generation microscope. It has an equivalent focal length of 14 mm and can achieve 114-degree ultra-wide angle shots without correction, as seen below:

That wide-angle camera also has a built-in optical image stabilization system that, according to the company, has four-axis anti-shake in photogrpahy and five-axis anti-shake in video mode, along with a “super-night super” camera, “blacklight night vision 2.0”

The Vivo X60 Pro + has a four-axis image stabilization on photos and a five-axis stabilization for video recording when using the super-wide camera. The 8-megapixel optical periscope lens is also capable of up to 60x digital zoom, and is used in conjunction with the 2x digital zoom available on the 32-megapixel 50mm camera in camera portrait mode.

The phone has a host of other notable features, such as an on-screen fingerprint reader, a 6.56-inch Full HD OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage and a decent size 4,200 mAh battery that can be charged at a decent 55 W speed. Aside from a 1440p screen and faster charging, the rest of the Vivo X60 Pro Plus looks pretty excellent.

Currently only available in China, the Vivo X60 Pro Plus will be available in Classic Orange and Phantom Blue prices from CNY 5,000 (~ $ 775) for the 8 GB RAM and 128 GB model. The 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage model is priced at CNY 6,000 (~ $ 927).
