The Spanish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Award to the Medical Residents of Macarena Hospital

The Virgen Macarena University of Seville Hospital has obtained the first and second last recently awarded by the Spanish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the format ‘Best jobs presented by internal medicine’.

The consultation, initiated at the 58th Congress of the Mentioned Society, calls for the quality and innovation of the sanitary proposals documented by the internal medicine residents of the center of Seville, informs the hospital center in a communication.

The first prize he received was the work entitled ‘Use of the Heckmmatt school as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool for spasticity in children with cerebral palsy’ which he developed for members of the Infantil Rehabilitation Hospital of the Enclave Hospital. It is stated that the use of this ecographic technique is a method of medicine that increases the number of decisions in pediatric patients with this pathology, and also allows to dilute factors of clinical evolution.

Specifically, this study concludes that the use of the Heckmatt scale, constitutes a useful diagnostic and therapeutic tool for conjugating the muscular eco-structure and the degree of fibrosis in neuromuscular affections, such as cerebral palsy.

On the other hand, the work ‘Efficacy of the anesthetic corticoid association in the block of the supraescapular nerve’ elaborated by components of the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation Unit of Macarena Hospital, has been reconciled with the second premium. In this case, the study focused on the prolongation of the anesthetic effects implicating the application of corticosteroids to topical anesthetics in the block of one of the most important nerves in the articulation of the man. The nerve block blocks a technique that helps control the median pain using radio frequency.
