The shooting at Sarasota Fairgrounds reported, which police asked

Police in Sarasota, Florida, confirmed Saturday that they had received reports of a shooting at the city’s fair just after 10 p.m. ET.

“Preliminary information indicates that 1 person pulled out a gun and shot another person,” Sarasota police wrote on Twitter. “Injuries are unknown.”

The police department’s Twitter message followed several social media messages indicating that a crowd of as many as 300 people had possibly scurried to safety, but the police message did not address the matter.
