The Rookie star reacts to the disturbing scenes from the latest episode

The newcomer spoilers follow.

The newcomer‘s Titus Makin opened up about the disturbing scenes in which his character, Jackson West, the training officer of Doug Stanton, ‘a racist ass’, finally took off.

In the latest episode of the cop show, which aired last night (February 14) in the US, Jackson and Doug (Arrowverse’s Brandon Routh) were forced to patrol without the promise of backup when the district was closed due to a bomb threat. .

The duo were beaten after Stanton revealed he was rushing for a fight, suggesting that any ‘thug, petty life and banger’ would likely be at stake due to the station’s plight. But things took a turn when the couple followed a sketchy SUV to an apartment complex and split up.

Inside, Jackson came across an aggressive group that jumped him, and when Stanton saw the attack from afar, he deliberately kept his distance – assuming his body camera was off.

When Bradford and Chen arrived, however, Stanton approached Jackson, who, although bloodied and exhausted, reached out his hand to reveal that his TO camera was on. Later, Stanton was ordered to hand in his license plate and rifle by Sgt Gray while Jackson was rushed to the hospital.

In a new interview with TV lightning, Makin revealed that “the reality” of the scenes made it difficult to be a part of.

“To be in those scenes, to tell in those moments and such incredibly true stories. These things did not happen to me directly,” he explained. “But just thinking that you’re wrongfully arrested or assaulted or holding a gun in your face just because you’re considered a threat was devastating.”

The actor further said that it was difficult for him to ignore his ‘organic’ self and not want to defend Jackson against Doug as Titus.

“They are out there. There are such cops. We have seen them and unfortunately we have seen the consequences of what they do when egos are involved and racism is involved,” Makin concluded. “I recommend Brandon that he is strong enough and willing enough to play that character, even if it goes against everything he stands for as a real person.”

The newcomer aired on ABC in the US, and aired on Sky Witness in the UK. It can also be broadcast on NOW TV.
