The remake of ‘System Shock’ will end this summer after five torturous years

After the better part of five years in development, System chef finally comes out. In an update to the project’s Kickstarter page, developer Nightdive Studios said it plans to release its version of the 1994 PC classic in late summer 2021. Not only can you pre-order the title today (on, and the), but there’s a new demo to check out.

Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick tells the demo represents a “feature-complete” version of the game. For this purpose, you can see the new real-time lighting and dismantling systems of the remake in operation. The studio has since also added new voice acting, more detailed environments and a new system that will dynamically adjust the soundtrack of the game as you perform in a fight. There is also an extra cyberspace element that allows you to hack open doors at Citadel Station. The hope is that the demo will enable people to “understand exactly what they will get if they pre-order.”
