The remaining Fry’s Electronics stores are all closing

Fry’s Electronics was a shopping destination mostly based on the West Coast for gadget heads of all kinds, but now the retailer wants to stop it. On Twitter, Wario64 pointed out a tweet from a former employee and AV store owner noted that employees found out Tuesday night that it was the last night the stores would be open and that the site was going offline.

Bay news broadcaster KRON4 confirmed the rumors and said nationwide closing information will appear on the company’s website on Wednesday morning. Frys was founded in 1985 and was known for building up the electronic parts you need, as well as notorious customer service. It was the kind of place where you could find a bad label from the Nokia N9, attend a midnight game launch, and you could impose through a demo of the ‘Monster HDMI quality difference’.

The company’s West Coast stores also have an extraordinary level of detail, which has brought scientific touches in one place, Aztec references to another, and even a NASA theme in Houston, which contains launch counters every hour. The number of locations has declined over the past few years, and even before the COVID pandemic, buyers noticed empty shelves and strange product choices suggesting that Frys would not work much longer.
