If you really want a black PS5, the PS2 themed console from SUP3R5 is available today (January 8) to order.
SUP3R5 has announced that orders will open today at 15:00 EST / 12:00 PT / 20:00 BST, so if you are interested, you can give it a reminder. The console is shipped internationally, but the custom console manufacturer reserves the right to restrict shipping to different countries and regions.
The impressive retro-style makeup is not officially associated with Sony, as you would expect, and you can visit it here.

The custom console and the accompanying DualSense controller will be shipped in late spring of 2021, and the design reflects the look of the iconic PS2, which is still the top-selling PlayStation console to date with 155 million units sold worldwide.
Production is also limited to just 304 units, so if you want one, you should be ready to order as soon as it opens.
Why only 304 units? Well, this is apparently a setback to the origins of the PS2: 03/04/00. If you just want the DualSense controller, you need a slightly a better chance, as 500 units are available.
According to SUP3R5, a staggering 54K was already on the waiting list for the console nine hours ago, and it is almost a given that the number will continue to rise as the black PS5 approaches it. You are going to need a large amount cut luck to get one, then.
While they say you should never tell your chances, we also want everyone to keep their expectations for tomorrow in check. At the moment we have just under 54,000 on the “waiting list”. We’re terrified of the number. We root for each and every one of you.8 January 2021
The website’s product list states that the DualSense controller must be completely disassembled during the conversion process, which means that the standard hardware warranty provided by Sony is void. Keep that in mind. However, the console will still be covered as only the side plates will be adjusted.
Of course, this quote retro design is not cheap. You have to pay a $ 99 premium for the DualSense controller (usually $ 69) and $ 649 for the PS5 console (usually $ 499). If you compare it to a spicy gold PS5 that will fetch you over $ 10,000, it looks almost reasonable.
Risky business
It goes without saying that if you order the PS5 or DualSense controller from SUP3R5, you do so at your own risk. Sony may also use the banhammer before the console is actually shipped, as it has already shut down a retailer that sells custom PS5 faceplates last year. However, it has not yet taken any action.
