The prominent GTA Online cheat site closes “after talks with Take-Two” • Eurogamer.net

A prominent GTA Online cheat site has been shut down after talks with publisher Take-Two.

LunaCheats, a popular website that sold GTA Online hacks, now contains a single message informing visitors that it has withdrawn its fraudulent menu services and stopped all maintenance and development.

The website said it would donate its proceeds to a charity selected by Take-Two.

“We apologize for any inconvenience our software has caused to the Grand Theft Auto Online community,” the message read.

GTA Online has always had a problem with hackers and modders on a computer, but it is suspected that the problem arose when the multiplayer game could be downloaded for free from the Epic Games Store in May 2020.

Hackers and modders disrupt public portals in a number of ways, including robbing hundreds of vehicles, such as planes, which in turn crash into servers. They can even trap players in cages.

Take-Two, of course, faces an uphill challenge to scrape GTA Online fraud. This is an issue facing all online game developers, with Call of Duty: Warzone publisher Activision recently pushing for the promotion of Battle Royale anti-cheat.
