EXCLUSIVE: An outside Republican-backed group is moving up to 15 congressional districts controlled by House Democrats, with ads highlighting HR 1 – the Democrats’ massive bill on election reform and campaign funding.
The U.S. action network (ON) on Monday unveiled an advocacy campaign for a new issue aimed at ‘the corrupt Liberal Campaign Funding Bill. The ads, first shared with Fox News, will be seen in House districts with Democrats potentially vulnerable in next year’s midterm elections, as Republicans hope to win back the majority in the room they lost in the 2018 midterm elections.

The Democracy Reform Task Force announced last week that all House Democrats support the legislation, formally known as the For the People Act of 2021. Democrats say their comprehensive election reform bill, scheduled for a vote on Wednesday, will be expanded. suffrage and “cleaning up corruption” in politics.
But Republicans brought down the measure, saying it would lead to the federal government taking over the election and accusing the Democrats of trying to change election rules to their own advantage.

AAN says all 15 representatives, along with another 36 House Democrats, will be targeted by a call campaign.
“This bill is nothing more than a disgraceful attempt to kick public funds into the field of corrupt liberals in Washington,” AAN president Dan Conston told Fox News. “Especially in a time of unparalleled health and economic crisis, public funds must be used to end the suffering of this pandemic – not to help Washington politicians get re-elected.”
Democrats stress that their bill would ‘improve access to the ballot box’ by creating automatic registration of voters across the country and by ensuring that individuals who have completed criminal convictions restore their full voting rights. The bill will also expand early voting and improve absenteeism by simplifying postal voting. There was an increase in the absence of votes during last year’s primary election and general election due to health considerations by personal votes at polling stations amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The measure also commits Congress to ‘provide full suffrage and self-government for the residents of the District of Columbia, which can only provide statehood’, prohibits the cleansing of voters and seeks to end the ‘partisan gerrimandering’ of congressional districts.
Republicans have repeatedly argued that the push for DC state is a political step to secure two permanent Democratic Senate seats in a Democratic jurisdiction of about nine to one.

If enacted into law, the bill would also increase federal support for securing the systems, increase oversight of the electoral system, promote political advertising online and require all organizations involved in political activities their large donors should disclose a multi-dollar small donation matching system, which would be paid for by a new surcharge on ‘violators of corporate law and affluent tax fraud’, tightening the rules for super-PACs, and strengthening enforcement powers of the Federal Electoral Commission.

On Sunday, California House minority leader Kevin McCarthy said at the time that the bill would lead to a massive takeover of the federal government that would undermine the integrity of elections.
“We would lose our freedom,” McCarthy told Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
