The popular Fort Lauderdale location bans spring breakers under 23

A popular party venue in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, limits who is allowed during the spring season.

On Friday, The Wharf Fort Lauderdale posted an announcement on social media saying he would not allow outside the state’s springbreakers under the age of 23.

“During the Spring Break season, #WharfFTL will be 23+ for all guests with a foreign ID,” the announcement reads.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the venue also placed a sign near the entrance Friday night that read, “Must be 23+ to enter with State ID.”

The newspaper reported that The Wharf’s new policy was designed to avoid large crowds and slow down the spread of coronavirus.

According to the venue’s Facebook post, ‘walk-ups’ are welcome, but bookings are recommended for guaranteed access.

“Masks must be worn at all times while walking through common areas and not eating or drinking,” the report said.

Emi Guerra, a co-owner of The Wharf, told the Sun Sentinel that the bar would operate at a capacity of 50-60%.

According to the newspaper, The Wharf closed “for months” in 2020 due to the pandemic, and when it opened in just two days in November, it was quoted several times by health officials after photos of the venue were posted online showing unmasked patrons following not rules for social distance.

When it reopened in January, there were more coronavirus security measures, including a single entry and exit, and more distance between seating areas, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
