The Pixelbook Go is still the Chromebook I would buy today

This is a great time to buy a Chromebook. There are models to suit every budget, and whether you buy a cheap one or one of the best Chromebooks, you’ll have a great experience doing what Chromebooks do best – as an internet portal.

Some of what we’ve seen so far in 2021 looks pretty good, especially if you’re in the market to spend a little more and buy a higher model. Acer, ASUS, Samsung and other companies have seen that people are willing to spend more than $ 300 on a Chromebook, so they need a little more or less to provide better specifications and better build quality coupled with more money. on a computer.

I wanted to start by saying this, and that I think a lot of the new crop Chromebooks do things better than the Pixelbook Go does. I wish my Pixelbook Go had a higher resolution screen without buying the most expensive model, had a 3: 2 aspect ratio like the Acer Spin 713, and was more user friendly when it comes to storing storage space. I also wish the speakers were better and that it had at least one USB port of old, because some of the things I want to use do not use USB-C yet.

But even with all these problems, if I were to buy a brand new Chromebook or a high-end Chromebook today, it would be a Pixelbook Go. Why? Because of the keyboard and trackpad.

For some reason, these two things seem to be the hardest parts for any laptop maker to get right. To get the keys of the right size, to give enough travel if you press on them while typing, and to make sure you get feedback to let them know they hit the bottom instead of a simple porridge resistor, is not something you will find many laptops of any kind. Even Apple sided here when it turned on the keyboard on the MacBook.

It seems that the keyboard and trackpad are really difficult for a laptop manufacturer.

A trackpad should be sensitive but reject incidental things, such as leaving a second finger sticky or resting your palm along the edge. The hardware should be fast so that the pointer moves in real time without any delay. And it should be covered with something that is smooth but not also smooth, at least if you tap on one versus “click” with one.

The Pixelbook Go does really well on the keyboard and trackpad. The combination is the best of any laptop I’ve ever used, and it includes a MacBook Pro) and the larger original Pixelbook. And for me it is the advantage that I will buy it above anything else.

I do not like this idea, not one bit. I would like to be able to say a newer model with a newer processor or a hinge that folds or even supports a digital pen is what I would buy. There’s also the fact that a newer Chromebook will last longer. And I’m dead jealous of displaying some of Samsung’s offerings.

Because I type all day every day, I have to choose a Pixelbook Go.

And if you do not spend all day typing and just want to use your Chromebook as a very cool and very well-built comfortable machine to play a few games or watch a movie or a show, you probably need two Think Before You Buy A Pixelbook. We all have different needs and desires.

At the moment, my needs and desires are best met by the small Pixelbook Go. All but one – I really want a Chromebook with everything else in place to finally have a great keyboard and trackpad.
