Millennials’ first
recession
– the financial crisis – divided the generation in the middle, as the older group graduated in a stagnant labor market and the younger group caught the tailwind of the recovery. Pre-pandemic, millennial years, was characterized by inequalities with high incomes that, according to the races, seemed even stronger.
The pandemic exacerbated this wealth gap, with some millennials doing well and others continuing to struggle, reflecting America’s K-shaped recovery. But this gap has aggravated and even created others, with on the one hand a huge impact on careers and on the other hand the concept of maturity.
