The OnePlus 9 Pro can come with a Hasselblad camera

The upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro looks like it will take an important step in the camera’s hardware interests with a supposed prototype appearing alongside Hasselblad brands.

One long complaint about OnePlus devices was undoubtedly the poor camera performance. This is all despite the inclusion of normally top-level sensors and fairly capable internals. A new video courtesy of Dave2D gave us an early look at another prototype device from the OnePlus 9 series with a Hasselblad brand on the rear camera setup.

Of course, a co-developed lens partnership is never always a guarantee that a camera matches the perceived hype. Hasselblad’s rich history as a leader in the production of medium format cameras means that this could be a sign of a huge increase in quality for the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro. You can watch this prototype device in the video below:

During the short video, we look at a four-camera setup, with the iPhone-style circular bumps joined together by the Hasselblad logo and two more lenses. At this point, it’s unclear what the setup consists of, but let’s hope for some big bumps over the Sony IMX689’s 48 megapixel OnePlus 8 Pro.

Previous rumors suggested that the OnePlus 9 series would be potential with lenses developed with Leica, but it seems that Hasselblad will increase the perception of the upcoming flagship camera quality. The camera’s user interface includes a “Tilt-Shift” mode that indicates a moving lens to create the distortion-free images that are a feature of this type of photography.

The last smartphone company to work with Hasselblad was Motorola, with a Moto Z3 add-on that enhances the capabilities of the clear average camera system there. It was not a huge success, but let’s hope this combination looks more like the Huawei-Leica partnership than the Moto-Hasselblad collaboration.

Other highlights that Dave2D reveals are a curved display, with a slight difference in the frame shape for the warning slide and on / off button. It is not clear why this would be the case, but to say the least, it is interesting. Some strange aspects of the prototype contain a section ‘About Phone’ with 11 GB of RAM, but no processor information. This is likely to leak further information that occurs.

Will it finally give OnePlus 9 a camera that can compete with the very best in the industry? Let us know what you think of this alleged partnership, below in the comments section.
