The next iPhone may have a fingerprint scanner on the screen

Compared to the changes that could satisfy the company’s iMac and MacBook Pro computers, Apple apparently plans more subtle improvements for its iPhone series in 2021. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company’s engineers see it as an ‘S’ kind of year after incorporating so many improvements into the iPhone 12. However, the new models may include at least one feature: a on-screen fingerprint scanner.

Apple has had an interesting history with fingerprint scanners. While it was one of the first companies to make the technology popular with the iPhone 5S in 2013, it also started moving away from it much earlier than other companies did when it launched the iPhone X in 2017. With its emphasis on Face ID, the company has completely skipped the move to fingerprint sensors on the screen. But the coronavirus pandemic seems to have changed its mind about the technology. According to Gurman, Face Feature will not replace Face ID, but it will give you an alternative way to verify your identity if you wear a mask, or if you find that Face ID does not work as well as it should.
