Despite the debut of the new Subaru BRZ, Toyota has remained very quiet about the future of the next generation 86. A new design brand in Australia might give us a first look at the front bumper of the new sports coupe.
IP Australia shows the owners of this design as both Subaru and Toyota. Since the 86 and BRZ are a joint venture between these car manufacturers, it makes sense that both own this brand. They submitted the paperwork on 30 October 2020 and the office published the information on 18 January.
The images also show the lower fascia with the cut-out of the headlights. The decorative grille has a trapezoidal shape with the side extending from top to bottom. Hexagonal mesh is in the middle. The sharp, narrow entrances in the corners have horizontal stripes on the inside of their openings.

Subaru BRZ Front File Design
The comparison above shows the new BRZ and two files from Toyota and Subaru for leading fascia. By looking at them all together, it becomes clearer that the newly registered part has significant differences with that of the BRZ. The grid is higher and has a rounder circumference compared to the sharper edges of the other design.
While this design belonging to the Toyota 86 is the most likely result, we can not completely rule out that the design may be for the hotter BRZ in a recent espionage video. The vehicle in the clip was under camouflage and apparently did not wear this front end. However, the development team only kept things well under control.
While Toyota is not yet talking about the new 86, the 2022 BRZ will go on sale in the US this fall. Since the two models are so similar, we would expect them to arrive in the showrooms at about the same time.
