According to a new rumor, the next affordable tablet from the Tab series could support 5G connectivity. Which model and when it will come out is still unclear, but if it is true, it would be one of the first cheap 5G tablets to come on the market.
The tablet can be the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Lite or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8e. The affordable tablet should be introduced in three models: WiFi, LTE and 5G variants only under the respective model numbers SM-T730, SM-T735 and SM-T736B / SM-T736N, according to SamMobile.
There may even be another model, conceivably larger in size, which according to SamMobile will be called the Plus or XL version. It is unclear what kind of connection it would have.

The first cheap 5G tablet in 2021?
Samsung revealed its first 5G tablet shortly after CES 2020 – the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 5G – before releasing the 5G-ready Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 later this year. But the race is looking for an affordable 5G tablet, and it’s unclear which affordable will be the first in 2021.
Other participants include a nameless TCL 5G tablet that announced the brand at CES 2021, but did not disclose any details, such as price or release date. Given the brand’s preference for affordability – the TCL Tab 10s tablet launched at the same time costs € 249 (about $ 306 / £ 225 / AU $ 393) for its 4G LTE version.
This leaves us wondering what other affordable Android tablets might come out this year that support 5G. Since we have not yet seen an iPad connected to the next generation of networks, we would not expect the feature to be widely available in the more affordable layers of Apple’s tablets; if anything, we would expect the more expensive iPad Air or iPad Pro slate to get 5G connectivity first. But we will have to wait for what 2021 yields.
