The New York Times was slammed on Friday over a tweet that apparently justifies the controversial Supreme Court reform commission, which critics say is considered the first step toward court packaging.
The president on Friday issued an executive order to form a body to study reforms at the Supreme Court, including expanding the number of seats on the bench and setting deadlines.
Biden, under pressure from liberals to expand the scope of the Supreme Court, promised to set up the commission during a ’60 minute ‘interview in October following the death of Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The 36-member commission will be twofold and will hold public meetings to evaluate court reforms. The new panel has 180 days from the first meeting to complete its report on the pros and cons of court reforms.

While the Times article on Biden’s move noted that progressives are urging the president to take action, a tweet from the Times’ main report on Friday provides a different framework.
“Breaking News: President Biden will create a panel to expand the Supreme Court in an effort to balance the Conservative majority created by Donald Trump,” the Times wrote.
