We are very, very ready for this one.

Brand your calendars, sports car fans: the much-anticipated 992 generation Porsche 911 GT3 will greet the world on Tuesday, February 16th. Porsche launched a live website for the new GT3 earlier this week – sorry, “the youngest member of the 911 GT family” – which not only confirms the debut date, but also gives us a shady look at the back of the coupe.
Of course, there are a bunch of GT3 details we already know. Our husband Henry Catchpole turns into a 992 GT3 prototype end of last year, with master-of-the-gt cars Andreas Preuninger at the helm. The biggest change for the new GT3 is probably the use of a dual portable front suspension. This will be the first time a road-legal 911 uses this architecture, as it was earlier moved into the 991 RSR race car.
There was also a lot of talk about the, uh, interestingly shaped rear wing, which Preuninger assures us will look better on the production engine. But this strange form offers many features; the redesigned wing should not only reduce resistance but also increase the power of the GT3’s rear end.
Otherwise, the GT3 formula is known, and that’s not a bad thing. The power comes from a natural aspiration six, and you can connect it with a manual gearbox or the PDK clutch gearbox from Porsche. The whole car should also weigh about 3,100 pounds.
Are we fired? Ensure. Stay tuned for all the details on February 16th.
