Back in January, we reported that Google’s new generation of smart screens could include a sleep detection feature thanks to a built-in Soli sensor. Unfortunately, we did not know much more about the device, but we expected it to be released this year. Thanks to new information, we now have more clues about the future design of the Nest Hub.

According to 9to5Google, the upcoming Nest Hub will retain the original Home Hub design, including the color schemes, with the Aqua hue replaced with a light blue version and aligned with the Nest Audios.

Similar to the evolution of the Home Mini in the Nest Mini, the new generation Nest Hub will look similar to the original device, but with improved sound and a third microphone instead of two in the Home Hub. Most importantly, the new smart screen now features a Soli radar that will use it for sleep detection and motion detection, even in the dark.

The sensor data will be fed to Google Fit and automatically displayed on the home screen, thanks to a feature recently added to existing smart screens. The new Nest Hub is expected to be launched in the coming weeks at the same price as the existing model.
