The murder mystery of the Outer Worlds DLC appears today

Obsidian’s space-y-RPG The Outer Worlds has unveiled its second and final story expansion called Murder On Eridanos. With the title, I’m sure you know how it’s going. There is a body. You’re a protagonist. Somehow you’re about to find out who turned a space celebrity into a spaceship. Murder on Eridanos is available today for all you spacers you want to investigate in more scientific corporate crimes.

“Everyone is a suspect in this quirky unit after Rizzo’s hired spokesman, the famous Halcyon Helen, dies before the release of the brand new Spectrum Brown Vodka,” Obsidian said. “Travel with your companions across the floating islands of Eridanos and make clues with the Discrepancy Amplifier, a new device that highlights otherwise unseen tips.”

You can see the new doodad up there in the trailer, ‘a semi-sentient device that shows the deviations and contradictions of a crime scene.’ Semi-sentient certainly sounds to me like likely to have an opinion.

In addition to the killing power, Murder On Eridanos raises the game’s level by three. There is also a new armor and three new weapons to grab. One, interestingly, is called The Needler. It probably sounds suspiciously familiar. We’m sure Helen was killed for alcohol?

Some expansion pass owners were apparently a bit confused about accessing the DLC via various store windows, which might be too thematically appropriate, but the publishers explained this in a post. You can see some other details and troubleshooting in Obsidian’s sticky notes.

You can find Murder on Eridanos on Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store for £ 12 / $ 15.
