‘The Muppets’ hit with a Disney content warning

Even the Muppets are ‘offensive’ these days.

Anyone who streams ‘The Muppet Show’ on Disney + will first see a statement warning against ‘offensive content’.

Disney released five seasons of the iconic streaming program on Friday, allowing viewers to watch Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and their celebrity guests as part of its $ 6.99-a-month service.

The indemnity shown before each episode warns viewers that the show contains ‘stereotypes’ and ‘abuse of people or cultures’.

“This program contains negative portrayals and / or abuse of people or cultures. These stereotypes were then wrong and are now wrong, ”reads the indemnity.

“Instead of removing this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and foster conversations to create a more inclusive future together,” the indemnity says.

“Disney is committed to creating stories with inspiring and aspiring themes that reflect the rich variety of human experience around the world,” the statement added.

That’s not exactly what Disney considers offensive to the program, but some characters portray people from the Indians, the Middle East, and Asia.

And in season five, legendary country singer Johnny Cash is seen performing in front of a Confederate flag.

The warning will also appear in front of some iconic films, including ‘Aristocats’, ‘Dumbo’, ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Swiss Family Robinson’.
