“I thought I had loaded”: the most diverse reactions to the new balance of furniture in Cuba
In December of the 2020 transition, ETECSA, the only company embedded in the communications in the island, announced that all the prices of its services will be covered in national currency – very much in line with the strategy of the country, to eliminate monetary duality and CUP.
During all the months I presented my new prices in national month, especially the ones that have the current coming month (quite elevated), only multiplied by 25.
If, at ETECSA’s rates, it was multiplied by the equivalent of a CUC equivalent of 25 pesos in a national currency, it would pay to each one an SMS text message, which costs 0.09 CUC, and now costs 2.25 CUP; or the Internet access time from public areas of a CUC to 25 CUP.

On the other hand, Yadiel and Yuliet are debating: “the only thing that does not concern ETECSA is to put the CUP phrase”, “for what, if the CUC does not exist, the balance is MN”.

If the change of tariffs that Etecsa makes on 31 December 2020, is effected with the tax of 1 CUC x 25 CUP, the new charges sent from the exterior in dollars will be considered on the basis of 1 USD x 24 CUP, with the if a charge of 10 USD is not enough to raise the minimum of 250 CUP that requires the Cuban company for a charge.
The minimum charge from the exterior will be from 10.42 USD and in the case of promotions with a bonus the minimum will increase to 20.82 USD. These are the costs of litigation and company commissions.
As a result, we incur an increase of at least 2 USD for each promotional charge, which will be paid by the end customer or the family who will send the charge from the foreigner.
Etecsa will consider the 1 USD at 24 CUP, for those who want to pay 500 CUP will not be able to collect 20 dollars (480 CUP). It’s hay that sums up the sales commissions.
