The Mega Millions jackpot rises to $ 750 million after Tuesday after no winner

The Mega Millions jackpot climbed to its second biggest prize in history on Tuesday night after no ticket matched all six numbers.

US lottery players now have the chance to win a $ 750 million prize. The winner can also opt for a cash lump sum of approximately $ 550.6 million.

MEGA MILLION JACKPOT SOARS TO HALF A BILLION DOLLARS

The pot before Tuesday night’s draw climbed to more than half a billion dollars – about $ 615 million – which was already the biggest prize in almost two years.

The numbers were 12, 14, 26, 28 and 33, and the gold Mega Ball 9.

Although no one has claimed the jackpot yet, the draw on Tuesday night yielded a total of 3,701,286 winning tickets “at all prize levels”, according to lottery officials.

According to officials, Friday’s jackpot is likely to become the third largest lottery prize in U.S. history after two previous Powerball jackpots hit $ 768.4 million and $ 758.7 million, respectively.

The record for a Mega Millions jackpot is $ 1.537 billion in 2018. It was the world’s largest lottery prize awarded on one ticket, lottery officials said on Wednesday.

The jackpot has been playing since it was last won on 15 September.

The next drawing is scheduled for January 15 at 11:00 PM ET.
