“The Masked Dancer” is one of our favorite new shows of 2021. We can not get enough of it and like to watch famous people in cumbersome costumes doing difficult dance steps. On the first episode of season 1, which aired on December 30, five celebrities danced and four of them made the cut; Disco Ball was unveiled to unveil rapper-turn-actor Ice-T (“Law & Order: SVU”).
We’ve been performing the clues and videos since the premiere and have all your “The Masked Dancer” spoilers, including the identity of the group’s most energetic dancer, Tulip, performing again on January 20th.
On episode 1, the Tulip enchants us with its fine footwork on “Fergalicious” by Fergie. The four judges (Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, Ken Jeong, Ashley Tisdale) were far away with their guesses of Charli D’Amelio, Ariana Grande or Heather Morris. The only word the Tulip uttered as herself was ‘triple’. as in threat.
We did not hear Tulip’s real voice during the clue video because she said, ‘Hey guys, I thought I would have nothing to talk about in this video. But then I found this gem. I don ‘t want it to sound like one of the good guys. But when I grew up, I was constantly teased. “I’m allergic to you.” “You smell like dirt.” “OK, bloomer.” My confidence tumbles. But I tried my best not to get trolls in my head. I packed my things and found a new sunny place to call home. People relaxed with the weird stuff about me. For the first time, I felt like I could really breathe and be myself. Tonight my dance is dedicated to everyone who is trying to find their place in the world. After all, we are all together on this. ”

All this plus the accompanying visual cues tell us that the tulip is Mackenzie Ziegler, who gained notoriety with the reality series “Dance Moms.” Tulip’s tone-typing abilities convinced her that she was a trained dancer. Both Mackenzie and her older sister Maddie Ziegler, gained notoriety on this long actual TV series starting in 2011; we even saw the number “11” on a box.
Another visual clue was a ticket for travel from AL to DC. While it may be tempting to consider it a trip from Alabama to the nation’s capital, it’s also the initials of the Abby Lee Dance Company, which was at the heart of ‘Dance Moms’.

We ruled out the Tulip being Maddie because the clues fit Mackenzie so well. She’s a sensation on TikTok, indicated by the alarm clock and the sign Tulip gives when she completes her number. And she plays a star on stage in ‘The Wizard of Oz’, to which Tulip’s ruby shoes refer, to which she clicked three times.
To top it all off, Mackenzie goes by the short form “Mack”, as in the dish of mac and cheese we see in the video.
