Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, knew The Child’s real name was Grogu before they started shooting season 2.
The Mandalorian‘s Pedro Pascal recently revealed that he knows The Child’s real name was Grogu for much longer than Star Wars fans.
“I knew it,” Pascal said. “At the beginning of season 2. I mean, when I got the lyrics for season 2,” the actor said ET in a recent interview for Wonder Woman 1984.
He added, “And, um, my favorite thing about it is how part of the creative process is. [is that] I am at least invited to at least observe and contribute to the experience that will occur to me. And so, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, they get the text for me before we start shooting. So, I know everything, honey! ‘

Pascal also revealed in the interview that he has ‘no idea’ of how many more seasons there are The Mandalorian will be broadcast on Disney + and note: “Because quality will always dominate the quantities.” He continued: “As long as it stays at this incredible standard, by which it is, it’s more a matter of it than anything else. Do you know what I mean?”
The real name of The Child – aka Baby Yoda – was revealed in the season 2 episode titled ‘Chapter 13: The Jedi’. In the episode, abundance hunter Din Djarin (Pascal) travels to the city of Calodan, on the forest planet Corvus, to return The Child to his people.
During the trip, the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano used The Force to gain access to the child’s memories and learn his real name. It has been revealed that Grogu was raised by masters in the Jedi Temple, but was so traumatized by his abduction that he hid his Force abilities.
Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian plays Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Disney +. While Season 3 of The Mandalorian is expected to arrive in December 2021, the series has a series of upcoming spinoffs in the form of Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic and The book by Boba Fettof which the latter is planned for December 2021.
Pascal also currently stars as Maxwell Lord Wonder Woman 1984. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Natasha Rothwell. Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in theaters and on HBO Max.
