The husband of Representative Mary Miller, R-Illinois, tried to renounce what the FBI is a ‘radical militia group’ with ties to last month’s siege of the Capitol, after his pickup truck on Capitol Day with ‘ a great sticker that promotes the group.
When the news of the posters promoting the militia group ‘Three Percenters’ appeared, Miller’s husband, Chris Miller, Illinois ‘state representative, told the Daily Beast he’ knows nothing about [the group] until fake news’ started asking questions about the emblem seen on his vehicle.
In a statement to ABC News, Chris Miller said his son had received the sticker “from a family friend who said it represented patriotism and love for the country.”
Miller insisted he had never been a member of the group.
But this is not the first time he has helped promote the Three Percenters. In videos posted online, including one video posted on his own Facebook page, he stood in front of a Three Percenters banner – and a QAnon sign – last year when he fought Democrats.
‘We can be grateful [that] neither ‘Crooked Hillary’ nor ‘Creepy, Sleepy Joe’ will ever be the President of the United States, ‘he said in the video shot at a May 2020 rally in Springfield, Illinois, where he and many others others argued the state measures. to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. “We can be thankful … that we have a great American patriot in the White House who is determined to make America great again.”
A group in Illinois that helped organize the rally uses a logo with ‘Three Percenters’ images. The group promised supporters before the protest that some great speakers would take part.
In another video of his comments posted online, Chris Miller stated, “We have identified our domestic enemies as Nancy Pelosi.”
On January 6, the same day that a violent mob stormed the Capitol over false allegations that the presidential election in 2020 was stolen from then-President Donald Trump, his pickup truck was allegedly seen outside the Capitol building with the three percent he rear window.
The link between the truck and the Illinois congressman was first reported on Thursday by the Twitter account @capitolhunters, which according to the Daily Beast is investigating those who took part in the January 6 attack.
The day before the riots on January 6, Rep. Miller faced appeal for her resignation after quoting Hitler in remarks during a protest outside the Capitol building.
“Hitler was right about one thing: He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future,'” she told supporters at the January 5 rally. She has since apologized, but said critics “distort” her words.
A spokesman for Rep. Miller told ABC News that the congresswoman and her colleagues condemned the January 6 violence and that “she and her family were in no way involved in the violent attacks.” The spokesman did not respond to ABC News’ questions about Miller’s husband.
The Justice Department has publicly accused several of those involved in the Capitol siege of having ties to the three percent.
“In that respect, the three percent … is a domestic civilian force that advocates resistance to U.S. federal government policies that it says infringe on personal, local and gun ownership,” an FBI agent wrote in one set of indictments.
The group’s name stems from the view that only three percent of the population can successfully conquer a corrupt government.
According to Chris Miller’s statement provided to ABC News by a spokesman, Capitol rioters linked to the three percent had just ‘copied their name’, as the ‘original’ three percent ‘was a non- violent anti-government group ‘was what has since been’ disbanded ‘.
Members of the recent repeat of the move “were not involved in the January 6 riots,” Miller said in his statement. But authorities disputed the allegation because photos on the riot showed three Percenter banners, and according to the ABC News report, the FBI arrested at least five followers of the group on charges of their role in the attack.
Nevertheless, Chris Miller has now removed the Three Percenters sticker from his truck, the statement said.
