The main candidate of the Izquierda to the presidency of Peru affirms that “in Venezuela there is a dictatorship”

The candidate for the presidency of Peru, Verónika Mendoza, reiteró is this Saturday that “In Venezuela haoi una dictadura”, one day after criticizing the role of the Lima Group and signaling that Nicolás Maduro and the opposition should be interlocutors for a democratic solution to the “political crisis”.

Mendoza, who posted to the Presidency with the block of Izquierda Juntos by Peru, recorded in statements to the radio broadcaster RPP that “in opportunities of opportunity” has denounced a democratic figure in Venezuela.

It’s something we’ve been up to since time immemorial. Although the situation is getting worse, we all identify that there is a dictatorship, a serious political, economic and sanitary crisis that is affecting the Venezuelan people”, Indicó Mendoza.

“There is dictatorship, there is corruption … but what we are talking about is that this crisis is being resolved by democratic channels. “I also want to contribute to Peru’s dialogue with the region’s other governors,” he added.

The candidate made these statements in order to clarify his vision for the solution to the crisis in Venezuela expressed by the four in a conference with the Association of the Foreign Press in Peru (APEP). Asked whether he was reconciling with the legitimacy of Nicolás Maduro’s Governor, Mendoza replied that he should be considered as “the interlocutor with whom he could stimulate this dialogue process to end this crisis, together with convincing all sectors of the opposition.

For Mendoza it is “obvious” that the role is exaggerated by the Lima Group, composed by a series of American peasants who unanimously reconciled with leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s president, “do not have the most effective”. (The Lima Group) is a space that has been debited by the recent return of Argentina. I have not been able to resolve the political crisis in Venezuela, ”Mendoza said. ‘Nosotros we propose an article between the Lima Group and the International Contact Group from Norway, Mexico, and has recently incorporated Chile, in order to launch a new strategy that resolves the political crisis in Venezuela, based on the articulation of these initiatives, ”he said.

More than a million Venezuelan migrants entered Peru in the last few years, because the vision for Maduro and the proposals on security and migration are one of the main themes of the presidential campaign.

Verónika Mendoza, 40 years old, is the only candidate of izquierda between the main contenders which is the subject of the second round of presidential elections. According to the latest polls of public opinion polls, there are three points of voting intentions among the candidate leading the polls, Yohny Lescano, of the Popular Action Party (AP), and the fifth, in a poll of 12 % to 9%.

The disillusionment and indecision mark the perspectives of the Peruvian electorate for these elections, then approximately 30% of the voters have not yet decided their vote or vote in blank or zero.

The ballot boxes will be convened on 11 April, with more than 25 million Peruvians to be elected by the year 2021-2026 to a president and his two vice presidents and to renovate the 130 representatives of the Congress, as well as the five representatives of the Andean Parliament.

Only the second ballot paper will be presented in June for the two candidates for the presidency to vote, if none of the dioceses in the list have 50% of the votes in the first round.
