Why did his racist and anti-immigrant policies hurt Latin people in Florida’s response to Donald Trump last year? It is a legacy that is reminiscent of the failed invasion of Bahia de Cochinos, when a battalion of young men, armed and trained by the CIA, intended to overthrow Fidel Castro. But when the “Brigade 2506” began to attack, John F. Kennedy’s Governor broke his promise and abandoned the Cubans, with which he was beaten by Castro’s forces. To mark the 60th anniversary of the failed operation, Brigadier 2506’s briefings have been with CNN since sharing details from April 17, 1961.
