The latest OnePlus 9 / Pro leak reveals the design in versions

The OnePlus 9 series will launch soon in a few weeks, and before the launch, a major leak revealed the designs, colors and more details about the two core devices in the series.

WinFuture published today a large gallery with images of both the base OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro, showing how these phones will differ. As in the past, this is clear for the first time with the cameras. Although both phones mark Hasselblad on the camera module itself, the regular OnePlus 9 drops one of the camera sensors. It is unclear at this stage whether it will also match the Sony IMX789 and IMX766 sensors already confirmed for the OnePlus 9 Pro.

In addition, these two phones are starting to form their own identity. The designs are very similar with thin edges and a hole monster selfie camera on the left, but the OnePlus 9 has a flat screen on which the design of OnePlus 9 Pro uses curved edges. This is different from the OnePlus 8 series, where both devices had clear curves that Samsung phones have offered for a long time. This is not a positive thing, but for some reason it is considered ‘premium’.

In terms of colors, the OnePlus 9 Pro is pictured in a sleek matte black as well as a new shade of green. OnePlus has also previously shown the phone in a silver option. The regular OnePlus 9, meanwhile, is pictured in black, silver and purple, and the latter option looks like it has a gradient in the reflections. All three also have a shiny finish.

Notably, the OnePlus 9 does not have the antenna lines commonly found in phones with metal side rails. They are visible on the OnePlus 9 Pro, but not the regular model. WinFuture speculate could point to the phone using plastic for a portion of the building, just like the Galaxy S21. One could point to the Pixel 4 series with its painted side rails as an example of metal without antenna lines, but the glossy finish on the OnePlus 9 suggests otherwise.

The OnePlus 9 series will be officially announced on March 23rd.
